MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE
Mitchell Museum of the
American Indian
The Michell Museum of the American Indian, located at 3001 Central Street in Evanston, IL, was founded in 1977 when John and Betty Seabury Mitchell donated their collection of Native American artifacts to Kendall College. The museum, an independent non-profit institution since 2006, focuses “exclusively on the history, culture and arts of American Indians” across the United States and Canada. Tickets for the museum begin at $7, with discounts available for seniors and students, as well as free admission for tribal citizens and active military.
This gallery explores some of the pieces and exhibits currently on display at the Mitchell Museum, with a specific focus on the traveling exhibit, “No Rest: The Epidemic of Stolen Indigenous Women, Girls, & 2Spirits.”
